Bob Houghton Mckenzie River Fishing Guide

Bob Houghton has been guiding fly fishing trips, full time, in Oregon for 40+ years. Now exclusively on the Mckenzie and Willamette rivers, day trips for trout and steelhead are offered from March through October.

Multiple days and trips for 1 through 12 anglers can be arranged, which are suitable for beginners and veteran anglers. We greatly enjoy introducing our customers to fly fishing and fly casting. As the fishing is done from our Mckenzie river drift boats rather than wading, the learning curve for basic casting skills is not steep. We fish with dry fly usually, or when best, wet fly or nymph.

Both planted rainbow trout and wild rainbow trout are targeted, and when planted trout are available we fry up your mornings catch for lunch. Depending on the section of the river that we choose, there can be only wild trout or a mix of wild and planted.

Tackle, flies, and the fish fry are included. Generally, we meet on the river close to the day’s fishing, usually not more than 30 minutes from Eugene and Springfield.

In 2023 the price of a full days trip for two anglers (or 1 solo), is $485.
